The natives living in the area warned Henry about the bird living on Big Thunder Mountain. One day the bird will seek revange for the damage done to his mountain. But Henry didn't believe them and they digged deeper into the mountain.
Years went by and Melanie grew up to be a beautiful young woman. She got engaged to a train engineer, who wanted to take her far away from Thunder Mesa. But now the manor opened it's door to you and the real story is revealed. On Melanie's wedding day, a mysterious man appeared at the manor. He called himself the Phantom, but nobody knew him. Melanie was preparing for her wedding, when the phantom lured her fiancee up to the attic and hanged him. Melanie didn't know this happend and waited for her groom in the ballroom. But he did not come. Slowly the guests left and Melanie was left alone. She never took of her weddingdress, nor did she drop her bouquet, because someday her groom would return to her.
The Phantom stayed in the house, laughing at her human devotion. After a while he started to invite his ghost friends to the manor for an eternal party. Melanie kept waiting and years passed. The staff had left the house and Melanie alone. It was said Melanie had lost her mind. She wandered through the house, singing to her groom. The ghosts danced and partied all around the manor. Melanie never took away the wedding decorations, but the house was decaying. The gardens, the house, everything started to look horrible. Melanie however kept waiting for her lost love, never knowing why he had left her.
It is said that Melanie is still present in the manor. Nobody knows if Melanie is still alive, but if she is, she is well over a 100 years old. At night her voice is still heared in Thunder Mesa, singing beautiful but sad love songs. Sometimes people say they see lights in the manor and they hear the phantoms laughter.
Nobody knows if Melanie is alive, but they all say she has never left the house since the wedding. She waits for her groom until Judgment day,

The story of the Phantom Manor is very sad and a bit scary. When you enter the grounds of Phantom Manor, you will notice how everything looks old and poorly kept. The once lovely manor is now a scary, old house. Do you dare to go inside? A ghostly cast member will guide you in and the story will begin right infront of your eyes. The elevator will take you down to the mainhall of the manor, but what's that? At the top of the lift?
When you entered the mainhall, you will enter your own doombuggy, which will guide you through the manor. Will you be joining this ghostly ball? After all these years Melanie is still waiting for her groom and the ghosts never stopped partying. But be carefull, once you go into Phantom Canyon, it's hard to get out.
Phantom Manor is a great attraction with a beautiful story. The details in the attractions are amazing and everytime you go, you will discover something new! The attraction is pretty scary for younger children.

When you exit the attraction, you can enter Boot Hill. The cemetery of Thunder Mesa. Here you will find pretty funny gravestones. Henry and Martha are buried on this cemetery, just like Melanie (who's heart you can still hear beating).
